Biography -
Hi. My name is Lourens. (The English version would be Laurence, I suppose.) My friends call me Lo for short. I have a passion for Landscape Photography. Ever since I picked up my dad’s old 35mm, I have been taking landscapes. (Not knowing I was a landscape photographer of course:)) My passion for photography was discovered a few years back, when someone shoved a camera in my hands at a wedding and begged me to take some pictures. (You can see them on this site here). I decided I need a camera of course, but as prices of cameras go, I asked my dad if I could use his old 35mm he never really used. I bought some black and white film and had lots of fun, not knowing how these pictures would turn out. I was surprised. Not knowing anything about photography, it fueled the fire…
The camera was stolen a few years back along with my car, so my picture taking days came to a halt for a few years. I do graphic design on the side and decided last year to get another camera for some catalogue work and as an investment. Also secretly harbouring a certain curiosity and an itching shutter finger. Initially I just wanted a cheapish entry level camera, but one of my friends sneakily put a Nikon in my hand, and I knew from that moment on that I’m gonna have to get my hands on one… It was heavy and lay snug in my hand.
It wasn’t 2 months later I went to buy one. These pictures so far, is a collection of about 6 months of work and 3000 pictures later. This is just the beginning….
